We will use your finger or tempera paint on their hands and make prints of hands that can cut and hang on the tree next year on paper. You could even use acrylic paint on a base fabric and have put their hand prints of a adult size shirt as a gift for a parent or grandparent. Tan clay embellishments could be fun, too. Eye of God, with wire and wooden chopsticks would be fun. Let snowflakes cut simple, use a bit of glitter glue for decoration.
