The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, which is also the largest gathering of jazz bands in the world, begins during the weekend of Memorial Day and has more than 100 bands. Bridge to Bridge Waterfront Festival in July and navigation features, races, Coast Guard and wakeboard demonstrations. The California State Fair begins in August and continues through September and is one of the biggest fairs in the country. The four days long Gold Rush Days Festival starts over the weekend of Labor Day, and the Gold Rush era is recreated in Old Sacramento. The California International Marathon is in December, and the starting point is in Folsom and ends at the Sacramento State Capitol building.

From Chinese to Japanese, Koreans in Argentina, to Europeans African Americans and even Native Americans, Sacramento has farmers. In the West End, is small but important Japantown Sacramento. A strong sense of origin Japanese survives here and there is an annual Japanese Food and Cultural Bazaar which begins in August.
